Remember that your bike with a gear hub also requires a certain amount of care and maintenance to function smoothly and for a long time.
Shimano's manufacturer specifies a maintenance interval of approximately 2,000 km or one year. These are guidelines and cannot be applied to individual cycling.
If you're unsure, we recommend having a service with us sooner rather than later. Anyone who is familiar with their driving style, mileage, and vehicle technology will likely know their "own" maintenance interval and, if necessary, perform a service themselves.
Wear parts check
It's advisable to check all wear parts regularly. These include, in particular, the brake system, including brake pads, brake discs, and, in the case of hydraulic brakes, the brake fluid. The tires, including tread depth, as well as other cuts, defects, or porosity in the casing. Bearing play in the steering and handlebar areas, and occasionally the spoke tension of the wheels.
It's also worth taking the time once a year to inspect all screws and connections more closely. Due to frequent use or poor assembly, a screw can occasionally become loose and cause damage.
Error messages Shimano display

Battery care for e-bikes
In general, electronics and chemicals can reach their limits in cooler temperatures. Therefore, it's recommended to bring batteries into a warm room during the cold season.
Lithium-ion batteries currently represent the standard for energy storage in most e-bikes. They are relatively insensitive to charging and discharging.
However, they should be handled carefully to avoid damage. On cold days, an insulating neoprene jacket can also help keep the battery's performance at its usual high level.
Car-Gobike-Transport
Anyone looking to transport a Long John Cargobike (e.g., CargoFactory ONE) with a conventional car will quickly realize that a rear-mounted carrier isn't long enough. This video provides inspiration for what a roof-mounted bike could look like. Custom-made, though!
If you know you'll be taking a cargo bike with you on car trips, you can check out our mini cargo bikes, muli and YOONIT. These also fit the rear bike racks for the trailer hitch or tailgate from PAULCHEN. We'd be happy to advise you!
